Čovjek u dokolici otkriva sebe sama u svoj svojoj stvaralačkoj veličini i dubini. U dokolici se odražava njegova životna mudrost, njegova *sapientia*. Čovjek otkriva sebe kao ljubitelja mudrosti i pronalazi istinski smisao svoga života. |

##### **Leisure as retrieving the true meaning of life** |
##### **Abstract** |
Man works to gain leisure, Aristotle argued. In his dictionary, it was the word sholé, and it meant free time from work. From the Greek word sholé, many languages have developed the word school, which in all civilizations is the foundation of upbringing and education. From family to systematic upbringing and overall education – the whole process is considered hard work, which is very demanding and responsible, not only for those who are brought up and educated, but also for their educators and teachers. The importance of work in growing up is unquestionable. If school is the foundation of upbringing and education, what is the basis of the hard work and effort of all participants, then where is the place of leisure as the culmination and goal of that work? In the modern world, one gets the impression that work is valued and recognized so much that it is claimed that man was created by work. In this sense, leisure is placed in the realm of idleness. Philosophical thought, however, preserves and nurtures access to leisure as man's true meaning of life. It goes further and claims that only in leisure can a person experience his eros – his creative abilities, what really makes him a human being. At leisure, man is not only homo faber, but also homo ludens. A man at leisure discovers himself in all his creative greatness and depth. Leisure reflects his life wisdom, his sapientia. Man discovers himself as a lover of wisdom and finds the true meaning of his life. |
